vitra - Eames Wire Chair DKW-2

With the Wire Chair made of metal wire, Charles & Ray Eames have added a transparent variant to their organically shaped shell chairs. Of the Wire Chair DKR-2 is equipped with seat and back cushions. Due to the shape of the padding, it is also known as a "bikini".

Vitra Wire Chairs in this version are powder-coated in black. The bases made of maple are available in three versions. The design from 1951 was adapted a few years ago in order to do justice to the increasing height of people. So had Vitra raised the base of the Wire Chairs by approx. 2 cm and adjusted the geometry accordingly, proportionally. Hardly noticeable aesthetically, the classic chair has improved seating comfort in combination with current table heights.
